Fast Break #5: The Ultimate Digital-to-Retail Playbook
How to Use Organic Social + ManyChat + Vizer or Aisle to Drive In-Store Sales
Fast Break is a CPGSPN spinoff, where I transition from cold emails and power rankings to the CPG subjects that matter to me…and hopefully to you, too!
Today’s transition? Digital-to-Retail Strategy
In CPGSPN’s sign-up survey, more and more people have been requesting tactical marketing advice. So this one has less entertainment and more information.
Since the dawn of time, CPG marketers have been tasked with proving offline attribution. The halo effects of running ads on Amazon, Meta, or TikTok are intuitive for us, but not so much for the people behind the spreadsheets, like CFOs or CEOs. Here’s a way to prove digital spend (influencer spend included) can drive in-store sales with clear attribution metrics. It isn’t foolproof, but it’s a solid start.
This playbook outlines how to build a digital-to-retail (D2R) funnel using ManyChat, along with either Vizer (for secure, scannable coupons) or Aisle (for frictionless cashback). There’s also a bonus way to tie info back to your CRM.
Inspired by a recent Primal Kitchen campaign with a bit of added flair on my end, this is a step-by-step framework you can use today.
Why Digital → Retail Funnels Matter
Retail buyers want proof that your marketing moves units. Coupons and cashback create that proof:
Capture attention on social.
Deliver instant value with an incentive.
Capture customer data (email, phone).
Close the loop with redemption tracking.
You need this execution to land authorizations. But more importantly, you need it to keep them. Here’s how:
The Core Tools You’ll Need
(We get a commission when you use the links)
ManyChat – For Instagram DM automation, keyword triggers, and lead capture.
Vizer – For issuing single-use, scannable coupons with fraud protection.
Aisle – For offering cash back via SMS/receipt upload, no coupons required.
Step-by-Step Setup
1. Build the Social Hook
Partner with an influencer.
Clearly disclose sponsorship (#ad or #sponsored).
Use a simple CTA: “DM ‘NAME’ to Your Brand’s DM for OFFER.”
2. Configure ManyChat
Connect Instagram DMs to ManyChat.
Set the automation keyword.
Build a short flow:
User DMs “KEYWORD”
Auto-replies the offer link to either Vizer or Aisle
The user enters an email for Vizer or a phone number for Aisle. If you use Vizer, the user will check their email. Click REDEEM OFFER. Select store. Then, scan a barcode at checkout. If you use Aisle, the user will be directed to a landing page where they can enter their phone number and submit a receipt for a rebate within 24 hours via Zelle, PayPal, or Venmo.
Ideally, you create a flow that syncs email captures from Vizer to Klaviyo or phone numbers from Aisle to Postscript. However, please ask your email and SMS representatives for clarification on the legality of customer data.
3. Deliver the Incentive: Vizer vs Aisle
Vizer
Best for: secure, in-store coupon redemptions
Generates single-use scannable coupons accepted at retail.
Blocks fraud (no screenshots or duplicates).
Real-time redemption data in a dashboard.
Perfect for proving sales at specific retail partners.

Aisle
Best for: flexible cashback across multiple retailers
Shopper enters phone number → buys your product anywhere → uploads receipt.
Venmo, PayPal, or CashApp reimbursement within 24 hours.
Works retailer-agnostic, so you’re not limited to select chains. You can also create custom offers and landing pages for various retailers. E.g., if you want to support Ralphs, Whole Foods, and Target, make three different keywords for DM automation and the corresponding offer/landing page as the destination link.
Adds geo-targeting and Apple Wallet passes to drive in-store traffic.
NOTE: We use Aisle for the majority of our clients. We don’t receive a commission, but we do get partner pricing. We only get commissions if you click and sign up for ManyChat, Klaviyo or Postscript. Those are our preferred partners for Automation, Email, and SMS, which are among our main offerings at Growthbuster.
4. Capture & Sync Data
If possible and/or legal in your state, store all user info (email, phone, redemption status).
Tag users by stage: claimed, redeemed, expired.
Trigger nurture flows for non-redeemers: “Your $2 off is waiting!” This is possible natively in Aisle. Not sure about Vizer because we haven’t used it before.
5. Follow-Up & Nurture
Reminders: Double redemption rates with a second touch.
Education: Share recipes, flavor spotlights, or the product’s versatility
Retention: Once they redeem, keep them engaged with sequential offers over time. E.g. coupon 1 = X, coupon 2 = .5X, coupon 3 = .25X

Tips & Best Practices
✅ Keep flows short (one ask → one reward).
✅ Always disclose sponsored posts (or affiliate links like we did, hehe)
✅ Choose Vizer or Aisle.
✅ Be sure that your choice has concrete measures to block fraud, which they do.
✅ Share redemption dashboards with buyers to build trust and show support.
How to Measure Success
DM → incentive claim rate
Email/phone capture rate
Coupon/cashback redemption rate
Aisle has a nice new dashboard with ROI and incremental lift. They also have scans vs. redemption conversion rate, which is nice to see and helpful in decision-making.
Units moved per store per week compared to pre-offer
Conclusion
This is the best D2R playbook I’ve seen in action:
